Enabling users with an easier routine consultation program - A solution design case study
Authored by Hubiyan - Product designer, solutionist & design advocate
“Some users have chronic conditions which require them to consult a doctor for routine checkups. We need to develop a user flow for users to enroll in an online consultation program offered within the app, helping them with easy online consultations and free medicine delivery.”
1. Problem definition
1.1 Identify members that sign up to the app and suffer from a Chronic condition (i.e. diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol)
1.2 Get them to sign up and utilize the Chronic Disease Management Program
Based on the above ideas we have 2 perspectives of the solution
| Perspective 1 |
Goals |
Measurement points |
| Business |
Decrease claims, increase profit |
1. Signed ups and utilization of Chronic disease management program (****) |
- Overlap of signed up users who make claims |
| User standpoint | **1. Telemedicine
- Deliver medicine
——————————**
- Help users understand the value
- Provide convenience
- Respect their personal preferences | - Number of people signed up
- Signed up and used
- Signed up and not used
———————————————-
- People used >1 time
- follow up Survey
- User sessions |
2. Research
Based on the above standpoints and considering health, wellness, and user privacy, there needs to be an emotional connection with the user to truly empathize and provide value. Thus research goals are:
-
Help users understand the value of the feature.
-
Provide and highlight convenience with the feature
-
Respect their personal preferences
Hence the following research methods are most preferred:
User interviews
As the user interviews were based on personal and sensitive topics, those cannot be displayed here. However, the data analysis based on the interviews can be presented as follows:
- Because the problem we are trying to solve is very sensitive (recurring health condition)
- The feature to enroll and the feature itself is new so user interview will be a great method as it is a qualitative method of gathering input/data.
